2007 National Book Critics Circle Awards

The National Book Critics Circle promotes the best books published in English. There is no cash prize awarded but it is a prestigious award for any author. There are six categories in which awards are made: Fiction, Non-Fiction, Poetry, Memoir/Autobiography, Biography and Criticism.

Here are the winners:

Fiction: The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz

Non-Fiction: Medical Apartheid by Harriet Washington

Autobiography: Brother, I'm Dying by Edwidge Danticat - Also available in Audiodisk

Biography: Stanley: The Impossible Life of Africa's Greatest Explorer by Tim Jeal

Criticism Winner for 2007: The Rest Is Noise by Alex Ross

Poetry: Poems by Mary Jo Bang
