Bygones of Monroe:
Michigan Soldiers at Cincinnati
The Eighteenth left Hillsdale for Cincinnati one week ago today, completely armed and equipped, and are now at that place, ready to aid in its defense. The following are the field officers:
Colonel—Charles C. Doolittle
Lieutenant Colonel—George Spalding
Major—John W. Horner
Col. Doolittle commenced his military career as a Lieutenant in the Michigan Fourth; and Lt. Col. Spaulding our citizens know full well. Major Horner was a Lieutenant in the old Michigan First, and was in the battle of Bull Run.
The Twenty-Second Michigan Regiment, Col. Wisnor (ex-Governor,) in command, left Pontiac for Cincinnati also on Thursday last. The Cleveland papers speak very highly of the appearance of this Regiment and their conduct while in transit through that place.
