Bygones of Monroe:
Another Military Funeral
The mortal remains of Corporal Harrington Kendal, of the Smith Guards, which reached here on Saturday morning last, were consigned to their last resting place on Sunday. The funeral services were held in the Presbyterian Church, and were attended by a small body of soldiery in the uniform of the Guards, by the Firemen in uniform, by the Sons of Temperance, and by a large concourse of citizens. The funeral address was delivered by Rev. E.J. Boyd, and was touching and appropriate. The services at the church over, his remains were followed to the grave to the beat of the muffled drum, where “sadly and silently they laid him to rest.”
