||Museum Adventure Pass (MAP) Program
The Museum Adventure Pass (MAP) Program is back for a fifth and final year! Thanks to the generous support of program sponsor Macy’s, as well as the collaboration of partners The Library Network, Cultural Alliance of Southeast Michigan, and Library of Michigan Foundation, a total of nearly 300,000 passes to metropolitan Detroit cultural attractions have been checked out to public library patrons in a nine county area since October, 2007.
Starting May 25, 2012 through September 3, 2012, free passes to select Detroit metro area museums will be available for check-out through the Monroe County Library System. The MAP program for 2012 is an online reservation program that allows patrons to print tickets for free or discount admission to cultural attractions by visiting this website: http://eventkeeper.com/pages/tln
Once on this page patrons are instructed to choose which library system they belong to.
Once the system is selected they will be prompted to select their home library, the name of the museum or attraction they wish to attend, and which date they wish to attend. Then click "check pass availability" to see if passes are actually available. The next screen will show how many passes are available for that location for that day.
Patrons can then select "request pass" and enter the barcode number from their library card to obtain the pass. Click on "pass details" to shows what the pass can be used for (ie. Free-Admission; 10% off at gift shop"). Patrons must print the pass so they must have a working printer to access this service. They can also have the passes printed at their library branch.
Libraries have a limited number of passes for each participating organization. Passes are available on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be reserved, renewed or requested through interlibrary loan.
The program is a partnership between 174 metro area libraries and 28 local arts and cultural organizations and provides Greater Detroit area library card holders free passes to local museums, cultural centers and historical sites. Museum Adventure Pass, presented by Macy’s was designed to enhance the learning experience for people of all ages through books and other library materials, and to provide access to arts and cultural organizations.
