Postcards of Monroe Michigan is a project of the Monroe County Library System's local history collection. The Monroe Local History Collection holds more than 400 Monroe postcards within its archive. This digital project contains a selection of these materials from the Monroe County Library System's postcard collection. Expanded Guide to the Collection
The postcards primarily date from the very early to mid-twentieth century. Most of the cards in the collection were commercially produced and document significant locations and buildings of early Monroe. Some postcards are early photographs printed onto postcard paper. Any writings and identification of scenes has been transcribed. Those on the cards that were unclear have been omitted or given brackets.
Original postcards are housed in the Monroe County Library System Local History Collection archive, located at the Ellis Library and Reference Center. Our staff encourages users to check back to view images as new items are added to the digital collections.
Donations to the collection may be sent to: Monroe County Library System, Ellis Library and Reference Center, 3700 South Custer Rd. Monroe, MI 48161. Any donations will become a part of the Local History Collection and will not be returned.
